Sausage in Brighthelm

My mum is here for bank holiday and has brought sausage up for his holidays too, walking round Brighton with sausage is rather likened to hanging out with a celebrity, everyone wants to stop and chat!! We were approached twice by two different people who are part of a Dachs club in Brighton, trying to recruit Buster as a member, unfortunatly the geographical logistics wouldn't work to be a Brighton member (cornish dog!) but he will certainly be attending a meeting next time he visits!!

Brighton Sheffield Brighton

Had a good weekend in the sun, I spent Friday in Brighton, Saturday in Sheffield for my mates 1950's evening she organised and then back in Brighton for drinking on the beach and eating takeaway pizza, mmm!!
Haven't been enjoying the sun as much as I would like tho, sigh!!! Have made up some new pieces of jewellery (more wirewrapped jewellery) and confirmed a stall I'm doing at Komedia in Brighton next Saturday 5th June, which is good as I have done a fair since Christmas now, anyhoo here are some of some photos from my mates beautiful garden in Sheffield, I'm so Jealous McV!!

New Wire wrapped editions

I have been meaning to add my wire wrapped collection online for a while, this classic collection is always a consistent seller in galleries and boutiques, and the range is made using pieces of sea glass that have been wire wrapped by me.
This is how I first started making jewellery, so I have had about 8 years practice now making this style!!! The wire is tightly and securely wrapped, and adds a decorative motif to each piece. I enjoy matching lots of different styles of wire wrapping so it gives an impression of texture about the piece, this always looks especially effective on the wire wrapped necklaces. The necklaces are all available in silver plated wire but I do take Sterling silver commissions.

Open House Regeneration - Brunswick Square

The Open House season is upon us again, alas I am not part of anything this May but that doesn't stop me wanting to nose at other peoples homes, and of course admiring their art and crafts! Strangely, as I left my flat to visit an open house in the square, I noticed another sign two doors down advertising an open house regeneration project. Basically some guy has bought an entire house on the grade 1 listed Brunswick square (must have cost squillions!) and it was in need of some decorating. Because it was never modernised it has many original features and the house was never spilt up into flats. He is in the process of renovating it so it will resemble the original Regency style. We only saw the bottom two rooms as it will take a few years to restore it, but there were amazing original columns, a stone fireplace and intricate plastering around the top of the high ceilings. There is an artists exhibition taking place in the bottom two rooms, the artists on show are all taking part in the Open Houses and had been selected to participate under the theme of "regeneration".

I really loved the Lamps by Charlotte Squire.

An alternative view of Berlin PART2

Another impressive iconic building! Think its a museum...

Tiles in our flat...

This is one of the best pieces of Street sculpture I have ever seen, I get quite bored of some of the more pointless "look how big I can make this" sculptures, so its nice to see something a bit original. You can't make out how good this is in the photo and I have no idea who it is by, I wish I knew, but the two columns look like organic rough gemstones jutting out of the earth, just beautiful. This blue one below was at Theodor-heuss-platz and was see-through with lots of names etched on it, no idea who it was by or what its for but it stands where a fountain used to be.

"Meet you where?"

Rudolph-Wilde Park - the picture above shows the tube station at Rathaus, surely the most beautiful tube station in the world...you pull up and there are tall windows on each side showcasing the park. There is a huge fountain with a golden deer on top, and we saw red squirrels in the park. I have never seen a red squirrel before then in the wild (all the greys killed most of the reds in the UK) so it was such an oppertunity to see one in the wild still, much smaller than their grey cousins and I loved their tufty ears! At Alexanderplatz, in the dirt mall (Europa centre upstairs) They did the BEST cake in the world, and are not shy on portions, I had a wedge of a Chocolate Champagne Truffle cake and I couldn't finish it which is unheard of for me, usually a special cake stomach opens up and I can consume all the cake. I also had Bears garlic Soup there, never had garlic soup but that was amazing too! The restuarant overlooks the square with the old and new church in. You can see Mr Breeba enjoying the views below.

Saw this van EVERYWHERE in Berlin, me and my sister were trying to get as many photos as possible of it, I think they are a removal company but I just love the seal logo! so cool! Wish you could hire sealions as removal men....

More Graffiti, I'm sure the owner of this beautiful door didn't appreciate their door being scribbled on but I quite like the juxtaposistion of old and new here!

Went to the Olympic stadium, as its where my dad grew up when his dad was posted here to keep the Russians out of West Germany (when the wall was erected). This photo above shows two towers at the Stadium, near where Hitler used to address his masses.

Amazing "Tiki" bug we found, it had bamboo accessories, a visor and cow print seats!

Found this piece of pottery on the floor near where dad grew up, its not rounded but will make a cool pendant for myself, urban pottery! I just love the colour, my fav, periwinkle blue!
